In May, CAN (LET’S) granted $1,500 to JQT (Jewish Queer Trans – pronounced J cutie) for phase II of their “On The Record: The BC Jewish Queer & Trans Oral History Project

About the project: JQT Vancouver and The Jewish Museum and Archives of BC are excited to embark on this important partnership project to make our community archives more inclusive and complete.

The purpose of the “On The Record: The BC Jewish Queer & Trans Oral History Project” is to hear the stories of older Jewish queer and trans adults and their lived experiences in the Jewish and LGBTQ+ communities.

JQT Vancouver and the Jewish Museum and Archives of BC want to learn what it means to be Jewish and LGBTQ+ in BC over the decades.

Phase I of this project was to conduct interviews and is now complete.

Phase II of this project is to use content from interviews in the development of a public exhibit to give voice to a marginalized community within a marginalized community.

This is the first project of its kind in the province.
