Each year, CAN (LET’S) has the pleasure of hosting an intern from the UBC. In December, we had the privilege of meeting our new intern Selena. After speaking with Selena about their interests and future goals, we agreed that their talents would best be used in assisting CAN (LET’S) in the creation of one of our new workshops, Environmental Justice and Disability. People with disabilities are often impacted severely by environmental issues, for example the heat wave BC experienced in 2021. Our hope is to create an intersectional workshop that discusses how ableism and environmental injustices are linked and what steps can be done to counteract the ableism.
We are excited to develop this workshop with our intern and other volunteers. We hope to have the workshop up and running by late Spring.
