Neurodiversity and Accessibility Practice in through Work Integrated Learning

February 27, 2023

CAN/LETS’ Executive Director, Heather McCain, spoke on a panel at FutureWave 2023.

FutureWave was a free, hybrid, 2-day digital event exploring the future of the tech workforce in Canada hosted at the Microsoft Canada Waterfront Office in Vancouver.

For Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Month in Canada, they explored how the technology industry can support the next generation of diverse talent.

Heather spoke on a panel with Jenna Gauthier, Autism CanTech!, Sascha Kissner, CAVE/SEED Youth Employment Program, and Jamie Millar-Dixon, BC Partners in Workforce Innovation.

As a neurodivergent person, Heather was committed to providing a lived expertise perspective.

Several neurodivergent attendees commented, after the panel, that they appreciated seeing Heather openly stimming/fidgeting on a panel. Representation truly matters!

A recording of the video is available here.
