LET’S was selected to participate in The Canadian Feminist Disability Coalition (CFDC) Digital Storytelling Project, an initiative of the University of Guelph in partnership with the DisAbled Women’s Network of Canada. The CFDC aims to build the leadership and advocacy skills of diverse women and girls with disabilities to become agents of change for their rights in Canada. Funded by the federal department of Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), the CFDC will engage in systemic change to support a feminist response and recovery from the inequitable impacts of COVID-19 in Canada.
Digital Storytelling is a research method using self expression through art that centers participants’ voices and experiences. It is a collaborative way to tell or create stories using technology, combining images, videos, music, art, sound or text. Storytellers create 2-3 minute stories in response to a prompt or question or talk about their lives and experiences.
The storytelling sessions included facilitators from Re•Vision: The Centre for Art and Social Justice to support everyone with any tech-related questions, to discuss ideas or support with any story element.
