LET’S, along with Happy Cities, spoke on a panel for the Apathy is Boring RISE theme panel night. LET’S has spoken on previous Apathy is Boring panels. They always have a very enthusiastic and interested audience.
Apathy is Boring is an organization founded in 2004, when a choreographer, a filmmaker, and a fashion photographer met at a party. Troubled by how few of their friends were actively participating in Canada’s democracy, they started an online campaign to mobilize youth to vote during the 2004 federal election.
Today, Apathy is Boring works year round to support and educate youth to become active and contributing citizens in Canada’s democracy.
The vision of Apathy is Boring is a Canada where every young Canadian is an active citizen, and youth are meaningfully engaged in all aspects of the democratic process. This is more than just voting. It is about setting up youth to find their lane for engagement and ultimately, take charge of the conditions they live in.
Apathy is Boring has an initiative, under Canada Service Corps, called RISE. RISE helps young people co-create community projects and contribute in strengthening civic and democratic fabric by engaging on topics that interest them.
RISE is developing projects in seven cities across Canada: Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Halifax and Vancouver.
