LET’S’ facilitators Harmony Bongat and Zi Kei delivered their Neurodiversity 102 to the staff of Bakau Consulting.
Neurodiversity 102 gives a brief overview about the conditions that fall under the umbrella of neurodiversity. Harmony and Zi talk about the barriers that neurodivergent people experience and how we can reduce them. Offered in the workshop are action items on how we can be less ableist and stop perpetuating the negative stigma of neurodivergence. The facilitators ask you to re-think what we label as “bad” behaviour. They talk about accommodations and why these are necessary. They also created content that is geared for neurodivergent people; not just about neurotypical people. This includes tips such as how to be anti-capitalist, find your community, “body-doubling”, consider the cultural narrative around you and how to center what you need and want, in the ideal world.
All of LET’S’ neurodiversity workshops are created, researched and facilitated by neurodivergent people. Our lived expertise is vital to properly representing neurodiversity.
