LET’S continues to engage in advocacy around improving HandyDART services and TransLink accessibility. Global News has a video about the concerns raised over HandyDART’s increasing reliance on taxis to provide HandyDART services and then another video on TransLink’s accessibility plan that was released amid these concerns. As mentioned in the videos, concerns include the lack of training that some taxi drivers have regarding properly supporting disabled riders, the harmful and disrespectful behavior that some taxi drivers display towards disabled riders, limits on the number of taxis disabled riders can use per month, and the lack of external oversight or a proper complaint mechanism for the outsourced rides.
