Heather and Harmony facilitated a Disability Justice Workshop for the Hospital Employees Union (HEU) in April. As per usual, the HEU audience was excellent. We have enjoyed presenting to HEU audiences for multiple years. They are always an eager audience with lots of questions and insights. We were unable to get through the entirety of the workshop because there was so much discussion about the definitions of Crip and Mad. As people who work in the healthcare system, the workshop participants had a lot of professional experience with the system, and the struggles and bias within the system. It was a wonderful conversation. Additional resources were provided after the workshop to fill in the bits we didn’t get to do in person. It is never a bad thing to have such an engaged audience that the conversation outweighs the content. We are planning a second Disability Justice workshop with the HEU in May.
