UBC Marketing and Communications Focus Group

LET’S participated in the University of British Columbia’s Marketing and Communications Focus Group, hosted by Ness Murby. We were glad to add our voice to this important conversation about authentic and inclusive representation in marketing and communication (both generally and specific to higher education). The conversation explored the role of social justice in marketing and communications by institutions of higher learning.

During the conversation, we discussed a variety of questions, including:

  1. How do you identify?
  2. What does authentic representation look like to you?
  3. Do you think marketing and communications in general represent a diversity of people authentically?
  4. How do marketing or communications influence your understanding of or engagement with social justice topics?
  5. Are there any specific topics related to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion that are important to you and that you feel UBC should specifically communicate about?
