LET’S was given the opportunity to give a brief workshop on the importance of lived expertise as The Center on Knowledge Translation for Disability and Rehabilitation Research Knowledge Translation Conference 2024.
The theme was Disability Inclusion, Intersectionality, and Knowledge Translation. The free 3 day event took place online. The programming focused on how to ensure full and equitable inclusion in Knowledge Translation of people with disabilities from a wide range of disabilities. Discussions occurred about how Knowledge Translation activities can address intersections of disability with and among gender/sexual orientation, racial/ethnic identity, socioeconomic background, rurality, religion and/or national origin. Also discussed was inclusive strategies to promote uptake of findings that thoughtfully address users’ perspectives as understood from an intersectional lens.
The conference welcomed examination of any aspect of the full spectrum of research activities, whether focused research project design, implementation, dissemination, interpretation of findings or on strategies to promote uptake of its findings and measuring their impact.
